Organ Mountain NJROTC defeats Ben Davis MCJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season Organ Mountain NJROTC defeated Ben Davis MCJROTC 1044.8 to 1014.4 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Their second win in a row. Organ Mountain NJROTC was led by Nuvia McDaniel who shot a 264.1. The remaining contributing members were K Curnutt, Robert Scott, and Tran Nguyen. They are from Las Cruces, NM, and are coached by Robert Rodriguez.
Organ Mountain NJROTC is competing in the Distinguished Division where they are currently ranked in fifteenth place. Within the Navy Jrotc Conference they are in fourth place. They have a 4 - 2 record.
Ben Davis MCJROTC was led by Johnathan Henderson who shot a 273.2. The remaining contributing members were Jason Mink, Christopher Robinette, and Mateo Gomez. Ben Davis MCJROTC is from Indianapolis, IN, and is coached by Joseph Martin.
Ben Davis MCJROTC is also competing in the Distinguished Division where they are currently ranked in twenty-fourth place. They have a 2 - 3 record.

Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
