New Caney AJROTC defeats Manatee AJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season New Caney AJROTC defeated Manatee AJROTC 1089.9 to 988.3 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Their third win in a row. New Caney AJROTC was led by Ricardo Rosario who shot a 289.4. The remaining contributing members were Guinevere Honaker, Evan Malone, and Juan Llaguno. They are from New Caney, TX, and are coached by Jonathan Concepcion.
New Caney AJROTC is competing in the Elite Division where they finish the regular season in third place. Within the Army Jrotc Conference they finish in second place. They finished the regular season with a 5 - 2 record.
The cut scores for next season are still unofficial, however thanks to their performance this season New Caney AJROTC likely qualifies for the Distinguished Division in the 2023 National Air Rifle League Season.
Manatee AJROTC was led by Kayla LaRocca who shot a 252.4. The remaining contributing members were Kylee Souders, Noah Heilman, and Brendon Hughes. Manatee AJROTC is from Bradenton, FL, and is coached by Brian Krcelic.
Manatee AJROTC is also competing in the Elite Division where they finish the regular season in seventh place. Within the Army Jrotc Conference they finish in fifth place. They finished the regular season with a 4 - 3 record.

Post-season teams and squadding will be posted to the league website and emailed to coaches shortly.
Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
