Milton NJROTC defeats Ball AJROTC
Milton NJROTC defeated Ball AJROTC 948.1 to 883.4 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Their fourth win in a row. Milton NJROTC was led by Skyler Harris who shot a 254.3. The remaining contributing members were Faith Harris, Seth Roy, and Mason Maxsom. They are from Milton, FL, and are coached by Rob Fernandez.
Milton NJROTC is competing in the Distinguished Division where they are currently ranked in twenty-third place. Within the Navy Jrotc Conference they are in fifth place. They have a 4 - 0 record.
Ball AJROTC was led by Elisabeth Warner who shot a 242.4. The remaining contributing members were Sweetly Musick, Thaddeus Dean, and Jace Apple. Ball AJROTC is from Galveston, TX, and is coached by Mark Knight.
Ball AJROTC is also competing in the Distinguished Division where they are currently ranked in forty-seventh place. They have a 0 - 4 record.
This coming week Milton NJROTC has a bye week. While Ball AJROTC will compete against Dayton MCJROTC from Dayton, TX. Dayton MCJROTC currently has a 2 - 2 record.
Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
