Bensalem MCJROTC Narrowly Defeats Selma MCJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season Bensalem MCJROTC edged out Selma MCJROTC 1062.9 to 1056.0 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Their fourth win in a row. Bensalem MCJROTC was led by Nicholas Donnelly who shot a 274.6. The remaining contributing members were Shu-Chen Chiang, Michael Sit, and Nyah Hyers. They are from Bensalem, PA, and are coached by MSgt Shawn Worthen.
Bensalem MCJROTC is competing in the Distinguished Division where they finish the regular season in fifteenth place. Within the Marine Corps Jrotc Conference they finish in fourth place. They finished the regular season with a 5 - 2 record.
The cut scores for next season are still unofficial, however thanks to their performance this season Bensalem MCJROTC likely qualifies for the Distinguished Division in the 2023 National Air Rifle League Season.
Selma MCJROTC was led by Jessica Maldonado who shot a 277.2. The remaining contributing members were Angel Reyes, Adriana Ramos, and Eliana Dominguez. Selma MCJROTC is from Selma, CA, and is coached by Mike Romero.
Selma MCJROTC is also competing in the Distinguished Division where they finish the regular season in sixteenth place. Within the Marine Corps Jrotc Conference they finish in fifth place. They finished the regular season with a 3 - 3 record.

Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
