West Valley MCJROTC defeats Kofa MCJROTC
West Valley MCJROTC defeated Kofa MCJROTC 1101.1 to 1079.9 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Their fifth win in a row. West Valley MCJROTC was led by Ebin Arzac who shot a 282.1. The remaining contributing members were Amy Roberts, Joey Finnikov, and Evelyn Golden. They are from Fairbanks, AK, and are coached by SSgt Travis Walker.
West Valley MCJROTC is competing in the Champions Division where they are currently ranked in eleventh place. Within the Marine Corps Jrotc Conference they are in third place. They have a 5 - 1 record.
Snapping a thre game win streak Shooting their highest team score of the season Kofa MCJROTC was led by Carlos Soto who shot a 275.0. The remaining contributing members were Alayna Pallanes, Hannah Daniels, and Christian Gerardo. Kofa MCJROTC is from Yuma, AZ, and is coached by Todd Birney.
Kofa MCJROTC is also competing in the Champions Division where they are currently ranked in seventeenth place. Within the Marine Corps Jrotc Conference they are in fourth place. They have a 3 - 3 record.

Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
