Patuxent NJROTC defeats Langham Creek AFJROTC
Patuxent NJROTC defeated Langham Creek AFJROTC 1013.8 to 968.0 in the 2023 National Sporter Air Rifle League. Their second win in a row. Patuxent NJROTC was led by Alyssa Marble who shot a 270.1. The remaining contributing members were Autumn Delong, Bailey Kazeleski, and Emerson Taylor. They are from Lusby, MD, and are coached by Todd Wean.
Patuxent NJROTC competed in the Champions Division where they finish the regular season in twenty-first place. Within the Navy JROTC Conference they finish in sixth place. They finished the regular season with a 2 - 5 record.
Thanks to their performance this season Patuxent NJROTC preliminarily qualifies for the Distinguished Division in the 2024 National Air Rifle League.

The league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, kneeling, prone, and standing. Scored in decimal, each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
