Walton County 4-H defeats Carroll County 4-H

Walton County 4-H defeated Carroll County 4-H 1981.8 to 1930.0 last week in the semi-final game of the National BB Gun League championship tournament. Their seventh win in a row, Walton County 4-H advances to their second straight league championship game.

Walton County 4-H will take on Pierre Jr Shooters for the league title. This is both teams second straight championship game appearance. Walton County 4-H won the 2017 title. This will also be the second time this season these two teams competed against each other. In their regular season match up Walton County 4-H edged Pierre Jr Shooters out 2012.6 to 1990.0.

In the semi-finals, Walton County 4-H was led by Tony Stacy who shot a 401.0. The remaining contributing members were Jordan Smothers, Emily Goitia, Jackson Davis, and Mason Harper. Walton County 4-H is from Monroe, GA, and is coached by William Carlan.

Carroll County 4-H finishes the season with an overall 3 - 4 record, including a third place finish in the Champions Division during the regular season. Carroll County 4-H is from Bowden, GA, and is coached by Scott Carroll.

These two teams are competing in the Champions Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The Champions Division is comprised of the top teams in the league. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.

BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is scored with tenth of a ring accuracy and worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
