Walton County 4-H Wins Second Straight Orion National BB Gun League Title

Walton County 4-H wins their second straight Orion National BB Gun League Title. In a rematch of last years championship game, Walton County 4-H edged out Pierre Jr Shooters 2009.8 to 1991.0.

Walton County 4-H finishes the 2018 season with a perfect 8 - 0 record. Their overall record in league play is now 21 - 5, which includes three post-season tournaments.

In the championship game Walton County 4-H was led by Jordan Smothers who shot a 406.1. The remaining contributing members were Tony Stacy, Emily Goitia, Mason Harper, and Jackson Davis. Walton County 4-H is from Monroe, GA, and is coached by William Carlan.

League MVP honors goes to Walton County 4-H's Tony Stacy. Stacy lead his team in the semi-final game with a 401.0 and finished second for the team in the championship game with a season best at 405.2.

Pierre Jr Shooters finishes the season with a 6 - 2 record, including a second place finish in the Champions Division. Their overall league record stands at 14 - 3, including two post-season tournaments.

In the championship game Pierre Jr Shooters was led by Alee Smith who shot a 402.5. The remaining contributing members were Jenna Kruger, Justin Merriman, Jasmine Hays, and Wyatt Rose. Pierre Jr Shooters is from Pierre, SD, and is coached by Sean Kruger.

These two teams are competing in the championship game of the Orion National BB Gun League championship tournament. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season. Followed by the championship single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams.

BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is scored with tenth of a ring accuracy and worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of five athletes from each team.
