Lafayette Gun Club defeats Cowley County 4-H
Shooting their highest score of the season Lafayette Gun Club defeated Cowley County 4-H 1357 to 1230 in the National Air Pistol League. Their third win in a row. With the win, Lafayette Gun Club is in sixth place overall. They currently have a 3 - 0 record. Lafayette Gun Club was led by, Ben Waits who shot a 353. The remaining contributing members were Mark Teixeira, Craig Freeman, and Ozana Halik. Lafayette Gun Club is from Yorktown, VA, and is coached by Karlowe Kroon.
Cowley County 4-H currently has a 0 - 3 record. After the loss they are in tenth place overall. Cowley County 4-H was led by, Jade Alquest who shot a 321. The remaining contributing members were Bailey Haunschild, Naomi Ray, and Stetson Shook. Cowley County 4-H is from Winfield, KS, and is coached by Austin Waite.
This coming week Lafayette Gun Club has a bye week. While Cowley County 4-H will compete against NoVA Sharpshooters from Woodbridge, VA. NoVA Sharpshooters currently has a 1 - 2 record.
These two teams are competing in the National Air Pistol League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for clubs throughout the United States. Over 10 weeks each team competes in 8 games. Each week, each team is paired with another team with a near equal win-loss record.
In each game the teams compete in a 40 shot air pistol match. This competition is nearly identical to the Air Pistol events in the Olympic games. Each athlete will shoots 40 shots, with each shot worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
