Walton County 4-H Narrowly Defeats Lake Houston 4-H
Shooting their highest score of the season Walton County 4-H edged out Lake Houston 4-H 1967.0 to 1962.6 last week in the National BB Gun League. Their sixth win in a row, Walton County 4-H is in first place in their Division with a 6 - 0 record. Walton County 4-H was led by Emily Goitia who shot a 398.3. The remaining contributing members were Jordan Smothers, Mason Harper, Jackson Davis, and Camden Miley. Walton County 4-H is from Monroe, GA, and is coached by William Carlan.
Lake Houston 4-H dropped to 1 - 4 on the season. They are currently in sixth place in their Division. Shooting their highest team score of the season Lake Houston 4-H was led by Carissa Wallace who shot a 395.7. The remaining contributing members were Kayla Ressler, Ainsley Day, Olivia Schammel, and Mitchell Weatherford. Lake Houston 4-H is from Kingwood, TX, and is coached by Steven Schammel.
These two teams are competing in the Champions Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The Champions Division is comprised of the top teams in the league. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is scored with tenth of a ring accuracy and worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
