Bend of the River defeats Hall County 4-H
Bend of the River defeated Hall County 4-H 1798 to 1744 last week in the National BB Gun League. With the win, Bend of the River is in seventh place in their Division with a 2 - 4 record. Bend of the River was led by Landon Smith who shot a 373. The remaining contributing members were Blake Shepherd, Austin Dallas, Taylor Phann, and Colton Smith. Bend of the River is from Cookeville, TN, and is coached by Charles Pardue.
Hall County 4-H dropped to 0 - 6 on the season. They are currently in eighth place in their Division. Hall County 4-H was led by Haley Freeman who shot a 365. The remaining contributing members were Mack Norris, Ella Hart, Sofia Browning, and Mason Eddy. Hall County 4-H is from Gainsville, GA, and is coached by Shermon Pass and Jonathan Page.
Next up Bend of the River will compete against Jackson County 4-H from Jefferson, GA. Jackson County 4-H currently has a 3 - 2 record. Hall County 4-H will compete against Lyon County 4-H from Emporia, KS. Lyon County 4-H currently has a 2 - 4 record.
These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
