Pierre Junior Shooters defeats Johnson County 4-H
Shooting their highest score of the season Pierre Junior Shooters defeated Johnson County 4-H 1900 to 1858 last week in the National BB Gun League. Their fourth win in a row, Pierre Junior Shooters is in first place in their Division with a 4 - 0 record. Pierre Junior Shooters was led by Jessica Hays who shot a 385. The remaining contributing members were Justin Merriman, Wyatt Rose, Jasmine Hays, and Jenna Kruger. Pierre Junior Shooters is from Pierre, SD, and is coached by Sean Kruger and Jon Hays.
Johnson County 4-H dropped to 1 - 3 on the season. They are currently in seventh place in their Division. Shooting their highest team score of the season Johnson County 4-H was led by Daniel JO-Smith who shot a 378. The remaining contributing members were Chase JO-Eccles, Ben JO-Rogers, Jennifer JO-Commerford, and Abby JO-Lawrenz. Johnson County 4-H is from Shawnee, KS, and is coached by Mike Smith.
Next up Pierre Junior Shooters will compete against Wayne County 4-H from Jesup, GA. Wayne County 4-H currently has a 0 - 4 record. Johnson County 4-H will compete against Humboldt Sharpshooters from Hartford, SD. Humboldt Sharpshooters currently has a 1 - 3 record.
These two teams are competing in the Champions Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The Champions Division is comprised of the top teams in the league. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
