Carroll County 4-H Upsets Humboldt Sharpshooters
Shooting their highest score of the season Carroll County 4-H upset Humboldt Sharpshooters 1874 to 1864 last week in the National BB Gun League. Carroll County 4-H was able to win despite averaging 21 points lower than Humboldt Sharpshooters coming into this game.
With the win, Carroll County 4-H is in fourth place in their Division with a 2 - 2 record. Carroll County 4-H was led by Collin Grubbs who shot a 379. The remaining contributing members were Morgan Frank, Sierra Brooks, Lydia Lee, and Sarah Jennings. Carroll County 4-H is from Bowden, GA, and is coached by Scott Carroll.
Humboldt Sharpshooters dropped to 1 - 3 on the season. They are currently in fifth place in their Division. Humboldt Sharpshooters was led by Alisha McMartin who shot a 381. The remaining contributing members were Julia Ivey, Eli Dissing, Mya Dissing, and Zoe Dissing. Humboldt Sharpshooters is from Hartford, SD, and is coached by Eric Dissing .
Next up Carroll County 4-H will compete against Walton County 4-H from Monroe, GA. Walton County 4-H currently has a 3 - 1 record. Humboldt Sharpshooters will compete against Johnson County 4-H from Shawnee, KS. Johnson County 4-H currently has a 1 - 3 record.
These two teams are competing in the Champions Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The Champions Division is comprised of the top teams in the league. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
