Gallatin NJROTC defeats Marion AJROTC
Gallatin NJROTC defeated Marion AJROTC 948.1 to 913.8 last week in the National Air Rifle League. With the win, Gallatin NJROTC is in seventeenth place overall and fourth place within their 'Navy Jrotc' conference. They currently have a 1 - 0 record. Gallatin NJROTC was led by, Noa Parker who shot a 243.6. The remaining contributing members were William Wright, Aiden Brock, and Ashton Cannon. Gallatin NJROTC is from Portland, TN, and is coached by Duffy A. Thompson.
Marion AJROTC currently has a 0 - 1 record. After the loss they are in seventh place within their 'Army Jrotc' conference. Marion AJROTC was led by, William Martinez who shot a 241.1. The remaining contributing members were Stephany Miksch, Kaeda Smith, and Ava Marroni. Marion AJROTC is from Marion, IN, and is coached by David Farlow.
This coming week Gallatin NJROTC has a bye week. While Marion AJROTC will compete against Ball AJROTC from Galveston, TX. Ball AJROTC currently has a 1 - 0 record.
These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National Air Rifle League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by a single game Conference Title Game for the top two teams in each conference.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
