W. H. Page NJROTC defeats Davie County AJROTC
W. H. Page NJROTC defeated Davie County AJROTC 1001.4 to 795.6 last week in the National Air Rifle League. With the win, W. H. Page NJROTC is in fourth place overall and first place within their 'Navy Jrotc' conference. They currently have a 1 - 0 record. W. H. Page NJROTC was led by, Emilyrose Sheffield who shot a 268.8. The remaining contributing members were Jex Harrison, Nicholas Waegerle, and Jeffrey Strader. W. H. Page NJROTC is from Greensboro, NC, and is coached by David Buchholz.
Davie County AJROTC currently has a 0 - 1 record. Davie County AJROTC was led by, Justin Long who shot a 221.4. The remaining contributing members were Cheyenne Barnett, Joseph Holly, and Daniel Horton. Davie County AJROTC is from Mocksville, NC, and is coached by 1SG Harold Wolfe.
Next up W. H. Page NJROTC will compete against Hoke County AJROTC from Raeford, NC. Hoke County AJROTC currently has a 0 - 1 record. While Davie County AJROTC will compete against Moberly AJROTC from Moberly, MO. Moberly AJROTC currently has a 1 - 0 record.
These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National Air Rifle League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by a single game Conference Title Game for the top two teams in each conference.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
