Roaring Rifles defeats Buffalo County 4-H
Shooting their highest score of the season Roaring Rifles defeated Buffalo County 4-H 1882.1 to 1728.4 last week in the National BB Gun League. With the win, Roaring Rifles is in third place in their Division with a 4 - 2 record. Roaring Rifles was led by Emily Shioutakon who shot a 387.0. The remaining contributing members were Aj Cavanaugh, Michael Gruber, Joseph Simak, and Adam Reinsch. Roaring Rifles is from Germantown, MD, and is coached by Ed Compton.
Snapping a two game win streak Buffalo County 4-H dropped to 2 - 4 on the season. They are currently in sixth place in their Division. Shooting their highest team score of the season Buffalo County 4-H was led by Drake Hasselquist who shot a 366.4. The remaining contributing members were Luke Olson, Zach Olson, Carlee Mashek, and Taylor Kinneson. Buffalo County 4-H is from Kearney, NE, and is coached by Kevin Taylor.
Next up Roaring Rifles will compete against Candler County 4-H from Metter, GA. Candler County 4-H currently has a 0 - 5 record. Buffalo County 4-H will compete against Gwinnett Shooting Sports from Sugar Hill, GA. Gwinnett Shooting Sports currently has a 5 - 0 record.
These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is scored with tenth of a ring accuracy and worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
