Bend of the River defeats NorthWest Shooters
Shooting their highest score of the season Bend of the River defeated NorthWest Shooters 1912.3 to 1676.5 last week in the National BB Gun League. Bend of the River finishes the season in second place in their Division with a 6 - 1 record. Bend of the River was led by Landon Smith who shot a 390.1. The remaining contributing members were Colton Smith, Eli Rich, Mallory Johnson, and Aliyah Carr. Bend of the River is from Cookeville, TN, and is coached by Charles Pardue.
NorthWest Shooters dropped to 1 - 6 on the season. They finish the season in seventh place in their Division. Shooting their highest team score of the season NorthWest Shooters was led by Nathan Windham who shot a 363.4. The remaining contributing members were Conrad Gonzalez, Olivia Brooks , Avery Boldt, and Robert Lee. NorthWest Shooters is from Cypress, TX, and is coached by Randall Jennings.
These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is scored with tenth of a ring accuracy and worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
