Battle Ground AFJROTC defeats Red River Rangers
Shooting their highest score of the season Battle Ground AFJROTC defeated Red River Rangers 2161.5 to 2085.9 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Their second win in a row. Battle Ground AFJROTC was led by Sophia Willis who shot a 542.0. The remaining contributing members were Matthew Long, Rheanne Harpe, and Blake Miller. They are from Battle Ground, WA, and are coached by Lt Col Andrew Woodrow.
Battle Ground AFJROTC is competing in the Distinguished Division where they finish the regular season in ninth place. Within the Jrotc Conference they finish in sixth place. They finished the regular season with a 3 - 3 record.
The cut scores are still unofficial, however Battle Ground AFJROTC likely will qualify for the Distinguished Division in the 2023 National Air Rifle League Season.
Snapping a two game win streak Red River Rangers was led by Victoria McClung who shot a 590.5. The remaining contributing members were Grayson Muller, Elizabeth Walker, and Addison Burnley. Red River Rangers is from Shreveport, LA, and is coached by Christopher Simon/ Clayton Brakeville.
Red River Rangers is also competing in the Distinguished Division where they finish the regular season in sixth place. They finished the regular season with a 2 - 5 record.

Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Standing Air Rifle match. The match is nearly identical to the air rifle events in the Olympic Games. Each athlete shoots 60 shots in the standing position, the most difficult position in rifle competitions. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 60 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
