Moberly AJROTC defeats Loveland AJROTC Wins Sporter Distinguished Army JROTC Conference

Moberly AJROTC defeated Loveland AJROTC 2071.6 to 2025.5 last week in the National Air Rifle League. With the win Moberly AJROTC wins the Sporter Distinguished Army JROTC Conference. They finished the season with an aggregate 7 - 0 record. Moberly AJROTC was led by MacKenzie Hopper who shot a 535.1. The remaining contributing members were Jaden Large, Anastaza Buckner, Joseph Gibbs, and Jenna Walz. Moberly AJROTC is from Moberly, MO, and is coached by Jeff Parks.

These two teams are competed in the Sporter Distinguished Army JROTC Conference title game. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season, followed by this single game Conference Title Game for the top two teams in the conference.

In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shot 20 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 60 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
