Brooke Point NJROTC defeats Liberty County AJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season Brooke Point NJROTC defeated Liberty County AJROTC 1029.2 to 1006.3 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Brooke Point NJROTC finishes the season in fourteenth place overall and third place within their 'Navy Jrotc' conference. They finished the season with a 4 - 3 record. Brooke Point NJROTC was led by, Emma Rempert who shot a 282.1. The remaining contributing members were Angelina Alvarado, Lainie Hill, and Sofia Ortiz. Brooke Point NJROTC is from Stafford, and is coached by Major Mike Darnell.
Liberty County AJROTC finished the season with a 4 - 3 record. They finishes the season in nineteenth place overall and third place within their 'Army Jrotc' conference. Shooting their highest team score of the season Liberty County AJROTC was led by, Sydney Goff who shot a 258.4. The remaining contributing members were Cierra Morales, Madelyn Guevara, and Jovan Anderson. Liberty County AJROTC is from Bristol, FL, and is coached by Jason Dence.
These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National Air Rifle League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by a single game Conference Title Game for the top two teams in each conference.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
